Challenge

An important part of the Research & Development process and building a strong pipeline at a major pharmaceutical company means collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders on conceptualizing and executing clinical trials. When these various partners don't work together effectively, it negatively impacts the ability to have strong patient outcomes.

Solution

We partnered with leaders inside the major pharmaceutical company to identify teaming and partnership as a capability for the organization.

We then built a customized assessment instrument to evaluate those behaviors across all R&D teams, and have worked on a variety of learning interventions that support stronger teaming and partnership behaviors over the past three years.

Results

This has resulted in a clear definition for effective teaming in R&D. It has also led to smarter, quicker collaboration on multiple study teams.

It’s now a standard practice for teams to use one of our workshops when they’re spinning up a new study.

We currently support 44 key leaders who cascade the norms and practices to an additional 120 team members.
